Chains of Freedom: the Legacy of the Baltic Way in Hong Kong

The aim of Chains of Freedom: the Legacy of the Baltic Way in Hong Kong, created in cooperation of the Estonian Institute of Historical Memory and human rights activists of Hong Kong, is to demonstrate solidarity with the Hongkongese people in their anti-communist aspirations for liberty. The exhibition is open from 23 August at the gate of Patarei Prison exhibition area Communism is Prison, and will remain open until 26 September 2021, when Patarei Prison’s exhibition season is due to end.

SURVEY: Most of society in favour of establishing a communism victims’ museum in Patarei

According to a sociological survey, commissioned by the Estonian Institute of Historical Memory, 55% of Estonian residents support the establishment of the International Memorial Museum for the Victims of Communism in the former Patarei Prison in Tallinn. Most of society is interested in visiting such a museum and support research into the crimes of totalitarian regimes and their victims’ fate. A heightened interest among young people can be noted.

Patarei Prison exhibition area Communism is Prison reopens to visitors

The exposition has been supplemented considerably, but the prime focus remains on the fate of the victims of communism in the backdrop of historical events and on different countries’ experience with communism.

The aim of the CommunistCrimes portal is to raise international awareness about the crimes against humanity, committed by communist regimes worldwide. Here you can find countries database, articles and news.

The Memorial to Estonia's Victims of Communist is located in Tallinn, Maarjamäe. e-Memorial is a continuation of this memorial, containing data about more than 100 000 Estonians. The e-Memorial is accessible for everyone.
